Description
Hurricane Hanna was the deadliest storm of the 2008 Atlantic hurricane season, with over 500 deaths. The hardest hit was Haiti, and by the time it hit the Atlantic Coast of Long Island it was downgraded to a tropical storm. Today the Long Island coast is mainly reserved to fishermen and recreational boaters, but a few centuries of whaling and shipping into the busy port of New York City made this at one time, some of the deadliest coastline of the country.
